Privacy
What stays on your iPhone, what is sent online and how to ask about your data.
Who we are
What stays on your iPhone
Products, quantities, dates, categories, notes, photos, reminders, preferences, drafts, recent activity and saved product names stay on your iPhone. A local account's email address stays there too; your list isn't sent to us.
Camera scans are processed on your iPhone, without uploading images. Reminders are also scheduled on the device.
Online barcode lookup
With your permission, Open Food Facts receives the scanned barcode, app version and connection details such as your IP address to suggest a product name. Your list, dates and photos aren't included.
You can decline and enter the product yourself. The provider's privacy policy applies to these requests.
When you write to us
Our email provider delivers your address, message and attachments so we can reply. You can review and edit an app support report before sending it; unsent reports stay in the app until you delete them.
Apple may share crash reports with us if you've enabled sharing with app developers in your iPhone settings.
No ads or tracking
The app has no ads, analytics service or cross-app tracking. This version has no online account, syncing or in-app purchases.
How long things are kept
Local records stay until you delete them. We keep support emails for as long as needed to answer you and handle follow-up.
Deleting app data doesn't delete device backups, exports or shared copies.
Your rights
Ask to see, correct or delete information we hold about you, or to stop its use. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
We use information for permitted barcode lookups, support replies and website operation. Some services may process data outside your country.
This website
Cloudflare hosts and protects somestr.dev, processing connection details such as IP addresses and potentially using security cookies.
The site has no ads or analytics. Your light/dark preference is stored as somestr-theme in your browser; System clears it.
Version and date
